the competing demands of family life, the military mission, and to improve
the economic viability of the family unit by providing quality, programs
and activities which contribute to growth and development of children and
youth and recreational activities that develop esprit de corps, promote
family well being, and enhance mental and physical fitness.

Child Development
Center |

Overview:
The child development program at Aviano AB provides a variety of
developmental programs. The overall program is comprised two centers which
provides full time, part time, and hourly, care for 238 children.
The
main center is accredited by Academy of Early Childhood Programs.
The new center Annex opened August, 2001.
Staff:
80 team members, including administrative and food service staff
and a training and curriculum specialist.
Capacity: Serving
238 children between the ages of 6 weeks through 6 years at two centers.

School Age Care |
Youth Programs |
The School Age Program includes a total of
108 youth between the ages of 6-12 years old served.
Full time summer camp, with an enrollment of 108
children, is conducted during the thirteen weeks of summer recess.

Aviano Youth Programs is a
Boys and Girls Club and participates in over a dozen B&GCA programs.
Aviano youth have been winners at the National Fine Arts Contest in
1998 and 2000. The programs
support has had a Youth of the Year nominated since 1999 and has sent a
club member to represent Aviano teen’s at the Air Force Teen Forum.
The youth programs include: youth sports, school
age before and after school care, instructional classes, educational
activities, teen activities and leadership groups, summer camp and
specialty camps.
Instructional classes include ballet, jazz,
creative movement, Tumble Bears, Smart Start, cheerleading and Tae Kwon
Do.

The youth sports program is operated out of the youth center and
serves up to 1200 children each year providing well rounded fitness
programs as well as leagues for soccer, flag football, basketball, girls
basketball, baseball, girls softball, and year round swimming.
Camp Adventure Programs are provided during the
summer for youth ages 6 - 12 years as a recreational alternative for
families with a non-working spouse. Several
specialty camps such as soccer, performing arts, and computer camps, are
offered throughout the summer.
Teen programs activities are conducted in a room
located at the Community Center. Activities
focus on the character, leadership, educational and career development,
health and life skills, the arts, and fitness and recreation. M-F
3-6:oop.m., Saturday 8:30 -2:00 p.m.

Capacity: The youth center has approximately 400 members
Staff: 17 employees and 200
volunteers.
Facility: currently located at temporary locations. A new youth center scheduled to open in the Spring of 2003
Hours
of Operation: M-F 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and the second Friday of the month
6:30-10:00 p.m.

| Community
Center |
The Community Center Programs provides
comprehensive program for families, youth, and singles though
self-directed activities, classes, special interest clubs, special events,
co-sponsored events, community-wide events, resale and services, and cyber
cafe. Programs are designed to support personal and professional
development, performing arts, leisure and recreation, and family and life
skills for ages 5 – and up.
Facility: The Community Center has a ballroom that serves multiple
functions for the community and the programs use the space for concerts,
theater, and other cultural events. A
recent renovation has expanded the cyber café and consolidated the
video/DVD rental and balloon and gift sales.
Pool, Ping Pong, and video games are available in the recreation
room and a large lounge provides seating and a Cappuccino Bar.
