Child Development | School Age | Youth Program | Family Child Care

Child Development Center

Overview/Mission – Full-time child care for over 200 children daily and a part-day preschool enrichment program during the school year.

  The Center is accredited through NAEYC in July 2000.  

The Center uses the Marazon System.  

Staff – approximately 60 staff members

Capacity – The center has 240 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

Beautiful facility with 6 separate playgrounds and 19 classrooms located on the main base.


School Age Care

   Overview/Mission – Provide working parents developmentally appropriate school-age care for their children’s before and after school needs.  Additionally, a large full day summer camp program is offered with a rich variety of educational field trips and special activities.  

The School-age program was accredited June 2000 with the National School-age Care Alliance (NSACA).

Staff – 14 full and part-time staff members

Capacity – 108 before and after school care.


Youth Center

Overview/Mission – Provide a diverse recreational/educational program to meet the emotional, social, cognitive and physical needs of our youth.  

Programs – Social, educational, recreational and sports programs for youth ages 5 –18 years.  Center belongs to the Delaware Boys and Girls Clubs of America and receives funding from the State of Delaware United Way Campaign.  Center has a variety of sports fields, a full size indoor basketball court, climbing wall machine, computer room with internet access, large outdoor multi-purpose court and a snack bar.

Facility Description - Located in the bases housing area surrounded by sports fields and next to the Saint Jones River. 


Family Child Care

Overview/Mission – Full-time/Part Time child care and before and after school care in a home setting for children ages 6 weeks – 12 years.

Number of Homes – 12 homes licensed or in processing.

Capacity – Maximum of 6 children per home under the age of 8.

Special Features – Large lending library providing majority of supplies and equipment for home day care.  The lending library minimizes start up costs for new FCC providers.
