Child Development Center 
The Maxwell AFB – Gunter Annex Child Development Centers provide a rich and stimulating environment in which children ages six weeks to five years may explore and develop intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. Every decision made regarding facility, program, staff, discipline, equipment and security is based on the premise that a quality program contributes to the overall quality of life for the children attending the program and their families.

Accredited by National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC):
        Maxwell CDC, August 1999 
        Gunter CDC September 1999 

Both centers utilize the Marazon System to asses and plan for the individual needs of children.

Staff: Maxwell CDC – 55 caregivers and staff, Gunter CDC – 38 caregivers and staff.

Capacity: Maxwell CDC – 238 children (ages 6 weeks – 5 years), Gunter CDC – 168 children (ages 6 weeks to 5 years).

School Age Care
Overview/Mission: The mission of the school age program is to support the needs of working parents by providing their families with a safe and caring environment that nurtures the development of character, leadership and social values. The program, the parents and the staff will encourage and enhance youth education and development by providing opportunities for risk taking, decision making, problem solving, self-knowledge and fun.

Staff: Maxwell SA - 1 school age coordinator, 1 administrative asst. (part-time), and 9 school age counselors. Gunter SA – 1 school age coordinator, 1 administrative asst. and 6 school age counselors.

Capacity: Our capacity is 182 children ages 5 (Kindergarten) through 12 years (both programs).

Facility Description: Maxwell SA - 20, 000 sq. ft facility including kitchen, gymnasium and outdoor play area. Gunter SA is located in a 7,500sq. ft. facility which includes a kitchen, 6 activity areas and an outdoor play area.

Youth Center
Overview/Mission: The objective of Maxwell- Gunter Youth Programs is to provide a fun, balanced, year round program of indoor and outdoor leisure activities, sports and fitness and school age programs for all eligible youth at Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex and the surrounding Montgomery Community. We recognize that quality youth programs not only benefit the children, but also, contribute to an enhanced family life. We will make every effort to provide children a chance to participate in wholesome leisure activities and sports/fitness, which develop mind and body, encourage fair play, and promote good fellowship among their peers.


 

Programs: Sports – Soccer (fall and spring), Baseball, T-ball, Flag Football, Tennis and Golf clinics, Swim Team, NBA 2-ball, and National Fitness Program.

Instructional Programs – Tumbling, Piano, Guitar, Swim lessons, and Babysitting are the classes currently available. Other classes such as art, photography and computer are offered when we have enough participants and/or instructor. School Age Programs – Before and After school programs, Holiday and Summer camps are available.

Staff: 2 Youth Directors, 2 Sports/Asst. Director, 2 Program Director, 2 Admin. Asst. (part-time), and 12 Recreation Aids.

Capacity: Maxwell - The building capacity is 250 children ages 5 – 18 years. Gunter – The building capacity is 100 children ages 5 – 18 years. In a program year we serve over approximately 1000+ children in our community.

Facility Description: Maxwell - 20,000 sq. ft. building with a kitchen, full-court gymnasium and outdoor play area. Gunter – 5,000 sq. ft. building divided into 3 program areas and a half-court gymnasium.

Family Child Care

 
Overview/Mission: The Family Child Care programs provide a rich and stimulating within the home for children ages six weeks through school age (12 years). Children are given many opportunities to explore, and develop cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically.

All homes are licensed (5 standard, 1 developmental, and 1 provisional)

Number of Homes: 7

Capacity: Maximum is 6 children per home ages 6 weeks to school age (12 years).

Special Features: Lending Library is available to all Family child care providers

Community Center

Mission – Develop a positive working and customer oriented atmosphere with the local military community. Offer instructional classes. Provide a special function to the community at least quarterly

Programs: Youth – Karate, Dance, Modeling, Band (musical instruments) Adults – Karate, Dance, Sewing, Cake Decorating, Floral Design, Arts & Crafts & low impact aerobics. Retirees – Dance, Bridge (card games), 55 alive driving course.
