The
Urban Landscape Ecology Program at the University of Idaho is dedicated
to providing the best educational experience for students interested in
careers in Science, Education, and the Industries involved with the
management and maintenance of our community landscapes.
Undergraduate programs provide the foundation for students interested in
continuing on to graduate school, or entering the market place in
landscape
horticulture, Arboriculture, and urban forestry with a 100% placement
rate
for all our graduates within the United States and Canada.
Students interested in Masters programs engage in biological and
sociological research examining the impact of human activity on the
plants
and organisms in our residential environments. Masters graduates are
well
prepared to understand and interpret research and are well suited for
positions in teaching, extension/outreach, state and municipal forestry
and
managerial positions within the landscape industries.

Students enrolled in a Ph.D. program have committed to improving the
knowledge-base upon which we make management decisions for landscapes
under
the direct influence of human habitation. A Ph.D. in the Urban Landscape
Ecology Program provides students with all the tools they need to to
continue investigating empirical and theoretical questions pertaining to
the ecological and sociological interactions among the many factors that
define the urban ecosystem. (Click here for available positions)
