John is an Assistant Professor in the Horticultural Science Division of the Department of Plant, Soil, and Entomological Sciences.  John coordinates the University of Idaho Urban Landscape Ecology Research Program and advises undergraduate and graduate students in Arboriculture, Urban and Community Forestry, Horticulture, and Urban Ecology.  He enjoys researching functional ecological and sociological linkages within urban and natural ecosystems.

Bob is a Professor of Landscape Plant Physiology in the Horticultural Science Division of the Department of Plant, Soil, and Entomological Sciences.  Bob's research examines plant propagation techniques used for landscape enhancement, nursery production and restoration ecology.  He advises undergraduate and graduate students in Urban Landscape Ecology in Plant Science, Horticultural Plant Production, and Urban Landscape and Turf Management.  Bob is also the advisor for the Plant Science Club.

Jim is a Professor of Urban Forestry in the Department of Conservation Social Sciences.  Jim's research investigates communication between urban forestry professionals and community citizens and also interpretation and implementations of urban forestry information by the public.  He authors publications for the National Arbor Day Foundation and teaches and advises students in Urban Landscape Ecology, Urban Forestry and Natural Resource Communications.

J.D. is an Assistant Professor in Rural Sociology and works closely with undergraduate and graduate students in the Urban Landscape Ecology Program investigating the social and economic impacts of community forestry on rural and urban populations.  He teaches and advises undergraduate and graduate students in Urban Landscape Ecology through the  Department of  Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Lee teaches Landscape Ecology and advises undergraduate and graduate students in Rangeland Ecology through the College of Natural Resources.  He loves to work with students interested in remote sensing, spatial ecology, biogeochemistry, global change, and interdisciplinary science education as it relates to natural and managed landscapes.  He is actively involved in using remote sensing technology to analyze and predict the potential for stress events within urban and community forests.

Debbie is an Adjunct Professor in Soil and Land Resources when she isn't busy managing the Root Disease and Soil Biology Project with the Rocky Mountain Research Station of the US Forest Service.  She is actively involved in research investigating fungal species involved with decomposition of plant tissue and investigating the soil biota involved with decomposition and mineralization processes in and between urban and rural forest systems.

Kas is an Adjunct Professor in Forestry and Horticulture.  He provides technology transfer and research to federal, state, tribal, and private nurseries for the U.S. Forest Service and in his role facilitates opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students to research plant physiological responses to nursery management regimes and their impact on outplant success.  Kas also edits the "Native Plant Journal" and is very active in native landscaping, forest and prairie restoration.

Juan Carlos is an Adjunct Professor in the Urban Landscape Ecology Program and is the Science and Research Director for the International Society of Arboriculture.  His research examines the relationships among the socioeconomic determinants of urbanization and the consequences of urbanization on multicultural communities.  He advises graduate students in Urban Landscape Ecology through the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Steve is a Professor of Horticulture in the Horticulture Division of the Department of Plant, Soil, and Entomological Sciences.  Steve is located in Aberdeen, Idaho and coordinates the southern Idaho Horticulture Extension and Outreach Program.  He advises undergraduate and graduate students in horticulture and also provides support for graduate students in Urban Landscape Ecology in southern Idaho.  His areas of expertise are plant nutrition, specialty horticulture crops, water use efficiencies, and plant propagation and selection.

Barbara is an Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture and works closely with undergraduate and graduate students in the Urban Landscape Ecology Program applying knowledge of human behavior, ecological principles and artistic creativity to the design and management of land.  Her research investigates residential preferences at the urban fringe, ecological planning and landscape history.  She teaches and advises undergraduate and graduate students in Urban Landscape Ecology through the Department of Landscape Architecture in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences.

Stephen is an Associate Professor in Forest Entomology in the Department of Forest Resources in the College of Natural Resources.  He advises graduate students in Forest Resources and Entomology investigating tree and herbivore interactions in urban forests and in the urban and natural forest interface.  He is our resident expert on tree chemistry and herbivore response and is also involved with modeling infestations using remote sensing technology.  Steve also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in forest entomology .

Jodi is an Assistant Professor in Soil Ecology in the Division of Soil and Land Resources in the Department of Plant, Soil, and Entomological Sciences.  She advises undergraduate students in Urban Landscape Ecology majoring in Soil Science and also advises graduate students investigating soil ecological interactions in native and urban landscape soils.  Her research examines carbon and nitrogen cycling in soil ecosystems and the role that annelids play in carbon sequestration and carbon and nitrogen mineralization.  Jodi also teaches several courses in soil ecosystem science.

Mark is an Assistant Professor in the Entomology Division of the Department of Plant, Soil, and Entomological Sciences.  His research examines the impacts of herbivory on the growth, development, and defensive response of native and invasive woody and herbaceous perennials in natural and disturbed landscapes.  He advises graduate students in the Urban Landscape Ecology Program majoring in Entomology.  Originally from Germany, Mark provides a unique European perspective to the program if you can understand his accent punctuated with guttural throat clearing sounds.
