Entrepreneurship Program 1999

Providing an opportunity for teens to create and operate their own businesses 

During summer 1999 Kids, Inc. offered a 15  hour week-long enrichment camp and five additional meetings for 6th - 9th graders. The teens not only learned how to set-up and operate their own business they also developed skills for gaining future employment.
Camp topics included:
  • Writing business plans
  • Banking
  • Pricing
  • Record keeping
  • Marketing and advertising
  • Taxes

Personal skill development topic included:

  • Reliability
  • Initiative
  • Social skills
  • Interest exploration
  • Money management skills

Businesses started during the summer included:

  • Car wash by appointment
  • Making and selling crafts
  • Handy-man serves
  • Face-painting 
  • Baby-sitting
