About Us

Family and Consumer Sciences Education Option

Are you interested in children, families, and consumer issues? Do you like people and want to help them? Family and Consumer Sciences Education offers students a career path that could reach to public schools, community settings, or business audiences. Courses prepare you to educate others about the development of the whole person, including self-concept, relationships with others, nutrition, the living environment, and consumer rights and responsibilities. These are studied in combination with educational theories and strategies to prepare our student majors to work with young and old alike in schools, businesses, cooperative extension, and community organizations.
