Sandra Evenson Interim Director Hello and welcome to the University of Idaho Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) website. Let me introduce you to the University of Idaho and the School. We are located in Moscow, ID, about 75 miles southeast of Spokane, WA and about 250 miles northeast of Boise, ID. We are near mountains and lakes, but the immediate area is called the Palouse, hills and valleys where wheat, dry peas, and lentils are grown. Moscow has about 18,000 citizens including 9,000 undergraduate and 1,500 graduate students. The School of Family and Consumer Sciences is located in the Niccolls Building, right next to the Administration Building in the center of Campus. Seventeen full-time faculty members teach, conduct research, and serve the state through the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and UI Extension. Over 300 undergraduates and 25 masters students study and learn with the school's faculty. We offer four undergraduate majors:
The school supports over 90 undergraduates and most of our graduate students through scholarships. Phi Upsilon Omicron, the family and consumer sciences honorary society, the Student Section of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Food and Nutrition Club, and Palouse Area Association for the Education of Young Children Student Affiliate are active student organizations.
