For each strategy, you will be required to interact with the information and content detailing background information in relation to the strategy. This can be done through the completion of the OPTIONAL chart for each strategy. Each strategy will have a sample of how this strategy can be used within the FCS classroom. EXAMPLE: PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING Once an understanding is gained, you will choose a content area within family and consumer sciences (Foods and Nutrition, Textiles and Clothing, Family Financial Management, Child Development and Parenting, Housing and Interiors, Hospitality and Tourism, etc) and create a lesson plan using the strategy. The lesson plan should follow the lesson plan format detailed previously (lesson plan format assignment). Be creative and have fun. Once the lesson is created, email the instructor your plan and be prepared to include a copy in your final portfolio. If you have questions about this process please ask. For this week you may choose Project-Based or Problem-Based Learning. They are very similar strategies, with a few relevant differences. I have compiled optional resources for your perusal to gain a complete understanding of the strategy. If you have any questions, please contact me.
