FCS 471 Student Teaching in FCS Ed Principles & Philosophy of Professional-Technical Education

COURSE OVERVIEW

Student teaching is a capstone experience for the pre-service teacher in the Family and Consumer Sciences Education Option.  The experience provides students with the opportunity to implement many of the strategies and techniques learned about throughout required professional coursework.  Due to unfamiliarity of the educational setting, both the supervisor and the cooperating/mentor teacher take on special importance.  During the sixteen week experience, the supervisor will assist in the professional growth and development of the student, whereas the cooperating teacher can be the most important contributor to an emerging educator’s professional growth and development.

GUIDELINES FOR ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT TEACHERS CAN BE FOUND IN THE INTERNSHIP HANDBOOK.  ALL STUDENT TEACHERS MUST READ THIS DOCUMENT THOROUGHLY
