Focusing on one waste management concern youth identify people who may be affected by the concern; collect opinions surrounding the concern; explain two or more differing points of view surrounding the issue; and explain the difference between a fact and an opinion.

Here is a sample of Fact/Opinion Cards that the youth sort into two groups, the FACT group and the OPINION group, before they begin a fast paced running game.

The government spends too much money regulating the amount of pollutants
factories can emit.		Proper insulation of a home save energy.The EPA's standards for lawn mowers are too strict.
Youth are able to make a difference.Dust contributes to air pollution.Electric cars are the solution to air pollution.
Household cleaning products have
the potential to be hazardous waste.		All animal species and subspecies should be protected.(Write your own fact or opinion.)




After playing the FACT/OPINION game, the youth gather opinions in their community using either the sample questionnaire provided or designing their own questionnaire.
